Rensselaer @ North Newton RECAP

Rensselaer Central's football team jumped out to a 26-7 halftime lead and cruised to a 40-15 victory at North Newton last Friday night.

The Bombers, now 2-0, totaled 392 yards of total offense led by Addison Wilmington with 12 carries for 166 yards and a touchdown.

Noah Bierma added 61 yards on the ground with two touchdowns. Quarterback Eli Hickman threw for two touchdowns and also scored a touchdown on the ground.

The Bomber defense gave up just 75 yards on the ground. Hickman led the way with nine tackles while Kiren Hesson and Lorenzo Rameriez had eight apiece.

Colin Wager connected with wide receiver Vince Taylor for a 35-yard touchdown pass while Austin Goddard threw a 20-yard TD pass to Wagner for the Spartans' offensive highlights.

Rensselaer Central travels to Western Friday night.

North Newton falls to 1-1 and will host 2-0 North Judson on Friday.
